About Me
Emma Hagedoorn is a New Jersey-based photographer. During her studies at Loyola University Maryland, she explored different processes and styles of photography, finding her passion for portraits. Portraying deeper meanings in her work has become a defining aspect for her work, recently focusing on depression through underwater portraiture. Showing her personal struggles and life through images has become a prominent theme in her work to create powerful series of photographs.
Emma is also trained as a journalist, where telling the stories of others first sparked her interest. Everyone has a story and sharing stories of others through both text and photographs is an important part of her creative life.
She graduated in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Visual Arts with specializations in Journalism and Photography. She is currently a graduate student in Loyola's online master's program Emerging Media.
